Our next statewide award is for an athlete regardless of position. Amundson graduated from Aberdeen Central in 1969 before playing for the Iowa State Cyclones, then the NFL's Houston Oilers and Philadelphia Eagles. He is widely known for his discus throw of 211 feet, 4 inches.
