if he was much older, in his mid 20s, out of university, etc., then I'd see the whole age argument as more compelling honestly. but 20 is honestly still incredibly young, so it's not much of a driving argument, and I'd hope the people using him being old enough to know better—.

—obviously bear some responsibility if he was a minor but it's not as though they don't likewise sort of have some as is, just on account of how they raised him. I seriously don't see much of a major difference between if he was 17 or 20.

—excusable if he was 17 or 18? this isn't really like haruka or muu's cases where a lack of adult intervention is a large contributor to the crime, fuuta's is a much easier crime for a teen to pull off even if they're not neglected, and sure, I'd say his legal guardians would—.

it's something I can't help but think when people say the whole "he was a grown adult, he should know better" thing. because, well, for one, he is still extremely young and immature — he's literally still in a form of schooling. but likewise, I wouldn't see this as much more—.

providing a totally unnecessary new hot take to the pile of fuuta age discourse. I think if he was 17 and did everything he did, it'd still be bad and I really don't think the weight of his actions is much different than it would be if he was an older teen.

obviously there's always been people who have blocked me but it's so weird not accidentally stumbling upon them trying to see what someone's replying to, but just seeing them like. out there in the open. exposed. what the hell. isn't that supposed to be hidden.

it's so funny coming back to main because I am not used to being on a public account where people have me blocked with the new ("new") fake block system. it's so weird just seeing someone in the replies who has apparently blocked me. who is this. why did musk make it so I know.

I can't fully recommend it because I'm a hypocrite who still hasn't actually read it, but I know bell hooks's the will to change touches on this sort of subject regarding misogyny (in men) and patriarchy specifically if anyone's interested. guy who will read it one day if I remem.

—already in your life (especially a younger brother imo) it's worth knowing you can ultimately help get them off of that pipeline by encouraging they find other groups and introducing them to alternatives.

—jail free card, but very few people get off that pipeline if they've no alternative to go to. and to be clear: it's not your job to befriend random neo-nazis or people who aren't exactly nazis but are starting to spout bigoted points or anything. but if you have someone—.

it's the same with real life incels and even those on the alt-right pipeline. obviously, being lonely doesn't mean it's fine that someone got there. but these sort of extreme ideologies recruit people by targeting the lonely and realistically you do actually pull people back—.

we should talk about this more not necessarily to make fuuta more sympathetic (saying this largely for those who might dismiss this pov otherwise) but to understand why people do end up like and prevent it. because yeah, this is how it happens.

i think more people should talk about fuuta’s social isolation and how it totally contributed to the Man he became. he has a bad relationship with his family, no friends in uni, lives alone, thinks life is boring and dull. like damn maybe you just needed someone to care about you.

he's so fascinating to me because he dresses up his fawn response as a fight one. he is the ultimate sheep, dressing up as the shepherd, yet terrified when someone holds him accountable as though he's the leader. I forgot how much I love this guy and his warped ego.

and when it still doesn't work, still, still he is clinging to someone else for salvation. he is so scared, he is always so terrified and protecting himself through intimidation, through tough façades, through grouping with the strong or the safe.
