When I began teaching my son Takakunda guitar, he was focused solely on Jazz. I advised him to learn everything & be a complete session guitarist .Now he plays any genre,that's him on guitar with his friend Naph on bass playing some Macheso.
I have no idea what this instrument is called.A number of these violin like instruments have historically existed in various locations of East and West I'm curious to know where this lady is from.
So last night young Saxophonist Joze Chinouriri held a very successful tribute to Oliver Mtukudzi gig.I attended the gig & he futad me to come Jam the last song with him & here is the result.Full clip on my Facebook Page.

Yesterday, I approached Caveman, the producer for Sizzla Kalonji , with a concept to create a Riddim solely utilizing the Mbira instrument, deliberately leaving out everything .

Nolan Hamandishe asked me whether it was possible to fuse Zimbabwean music with a western orchestra, I replied that it was.Then he requested that I give a preview of what it might sound like. Therefore, I took my time to compose this brief piece, I'm gonna call it "Kajiwa".
So this Sudanese student says their teacher gave them an assignment based on my guitar work, the world is now a global village for sure, thanx to social media.

Yesterday afternoon, I landed in Bulawayo and visited several studios,the guys are working hard too. We ended up having this jam session at BMC Studio.
Victor Kunonga is now in the league of artists who managed to create their own unique signature sound,that is also truly Zimbabwean.Nothing sells in the music industry more than a combination of uniqueness,originality & authenticity.Yesterday he was on fire @ Gava restaurant.

My son Taka & his friends are back in is a jam they did 2 years ago,their own rendition of Mukanya's "Chinungu".Mukanya was happy & called after seeing this they are playing at The Jacaranda Festival as Intotal Band.See you there.
Last Sunday I attended Mbeu's gig at Gava soon as he played Tuku's "Madiro",Sam Mataure approached me & said "Handei Kubasa".It's as if Mbeu overheard him,because he immediately invited both of us to the stage & we had fun.

Yesterday afternoon Ziki, who sells Mbira and Marimba at the the Gava restaurant entrance, was playing an impromptu jam with some guys who just happened to join in . Not wanting to miss out on the enjoyable moment, I also decided to join in on the Marimba.
We had an incredible jam session with Chiedza Muchena. We played the classic ancient song "Zvichapera".Chiedza is undoubtedly Zimbabwe's most versatile female multi-instrumentalist.She plays guitar,piano,Mbira, Marimba,clarinet,drums, the recorder,the saxophone & also sings.
Victor Kunonga's guitarist invited me to join in during his performance at the Bob Nyabinde memorial last Saturday, and I complied.Thus, this was the outcome.
WE HAVE DONE IT!!! WE HAVE WON A SAMA! Me, together Casmo Marsiano from. S. A, & Joel from Nigeria combined to produce tracks for the Reggae album "True Stories" by S. A Reggae artist Bongo Riot&the album has just won the SAMA 2020 best Reggae album of the year award, wooow!

In this call i did with Tuku 2016 it was the 9th time rumors had spread of his passing,so when my fon started ringing non stop yesterday i thought it was just rumor number 10,not knowing this time it was not just a rumour.RIPmu deacon
One person who stole the limelight at the Monosophy Bash is guitarist Welly Mutepaire.The rhythm guitar on the CD was played by my son Takakunda, but because he is on tour with Zimpraise in the UK, we roped in Welly instead. We have never regretted this choice.
Obert Gomba and I had a studio session here last Friday.After the session, I asked him to quickly add drums to this footage without rehearsal, and as always, he delivered.I'm not sure which church this is, but I adore their unique music.Have a great Sunday.
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD:
So last night, The Zimbabwe Music Awards decided to award me 'The lifetime Achievement award" ,to recognise the contributions ive made in the music industry.Thank you so much.
Yesterday, at Gava Restaurant, Josh Meck and I took to the stage with Mbeu & The Mhodzi Tribe during their tribute to Oliver Mtukudzi, performing the song 'Tsika Dzedu' with some new arrangements for a bit of fun.
MUSIC THERAPY:
Yesterday Dereck Mpofu,albert Nyathi,Paraclet, Vusa & visited Bob Nyabinde.The headmaster is on his way to recovery from a stroke he suffered in July.
He told us that by spending time with him,& playing music with him we had given him the best therapy.

SELLING ZIMBABWEAN MUSIC
Using the 2022 Bob Marley album by various musicians, which featured Winky D & Nutty O, Mr. Moyo and I decided it would be a good idea to speak with some media people at the conference and also visit some radio stations and ask them to play Zim music.
We commemorate Unity Day today. What better way to commemorate it than to re-introduce you to Black Umfolosi,one of Zimbabwe's biggest touring band,which is also the band responsible for the most well-known national unity song.I would like to say Happy Unity Day everybody.
