Just as our Fisheries Research team concluded their surveys in AA. Ukulhas, our Ecosystems Research team is wrapping up the Baited Remote Underwater Video (BRUV) Surveys in North and South Ari Atoll.

Announcing the Sixth Maldives Marine Science Symposium (MMSS 2026), the nation’s leading marine science forum, happening 4–5 August 2026 in Malé! This fully in-person event brings together researchers, students & stakeholders to share insights on the Maldivian marine environment.

We had an engaging school session at @CHSE_HighSchool today, where students were introduced to the diverse marine ecosystems of the Maldives and sharing insights on marine research, conservation initiatives, and the importance of protecting our oceans for a sustainable future.

This work is part of a re-sampling effort under the Global FinPrint Project, in collaboration with Mote Marine Lab, contributing to one of the world’s largest surveys of reef sharks and rays.

Our amazing field team wrapped up another arduous yet incredibly exciting survey in North & South Malé Atolls today! From rough seas to blazing sunshine, they deployed Baited Remote Underwater Video Systems (BRUVS) to monitor reef fish communities and elasmobranch abundance.

We had an exciting day welcoming marine science students from Majeediyya School to Maniyafushi Research and Training Facility! They engaged in discussions on the significance of fisheries and ecosystem research programs and explored the mariculture facilities on site!

The Marine Hatchery Skills Development Program which began on 26th April, officially wrapped up today with a special closing ceremony at our Mariculture Research & Training Facility in K.Maniyafushi! The training was funded by the TRANSFORM project.
