Because the UFC was allowed to control rank and title, the UFC monopolized the sport. Because of the monopoly, investment in the regional and local level disappeared. There is no longer a way to monetize the investment so it disappears. We’ve been telling anybody that listens.
I have an article up at @uncrownedcombat looking at data provided to me by @tapology that shows a steady decrease over time in the number of pro mma bouts and asks “why is this happening?”

UFC just announced that they’ll have three more grappling events for the year:. UFC BJJ 2 on July 31.UFC BJJ 3 on October 2.UFC BJJ 4 on Dec 11.

And every abuse starts with monopoly that strips fighters of control over their careers. They are attempting to do the same in boxing. They are doing the same in BJJ. We know how this story ends. We need to rewrite now.

After reading this —what do commissions think of TUF?. What do fans and media think of requests sent to fighters to be “ready” for short notice fights for months at a time? . What are those fighters doing to their health?. Sport is far less enjoyable when you see the abuses.
