Architects can—and should—embrace inclusive, walking and cycling-friendly design solutions. In the face of the climate crises, rapid urbanisation, and pressing housing needs, the role of architects and city planners is to push forward these crucial changes. #IAPEX2024.

While there have been advocacy efforts in this direction during COVID from Urban Innovation lead by Lahori urbanist @situationTO, still active mobility is often not a key priority in municipal agendas in Pakistan and city planners must start making space for it.

I presented my work, “Expanding the Cycling Potential of BAME Women.” In the present context of Lahore, one of the main challenges is urban sprawl, traffic congestion, and air pollution.

This year's theme included discussions on how “Architecture Matters” in shaping sustainable and inclusive urban futures in Pakistan. I was part of a panel that explored “Social Equity: Promoting Inclusivity and Accessibility.
