Saddened to learn of the passing of Jim Bradley. An honourable man and so dedicated to Niagara. Rest in peace Jim.

It’s advance poll day. Heads up Hamilton Centre - the poll in east Hamilton is woefully understaffed. @ElectionsCan_E - you need more staff for the weekend. I’m 30 minutes into waiting and not even halfway to the poll clerk.

This is great news for a whole bunch of reasons - housing, transit, building community. In my wee corner of this gracious city. 😁 Former Faith Lutheran Church to be resurrected as affordable housing

I am incredibly saddened by the passing of Bryan Tuckey. An incredible visionary planner who transformed how we think about transit, suburbs and planning. His greatest gift was the Oak Ridges Moraine planning that led to the ORM Plan. Into the mystic Bryan.

Powerful. Leadership.
‼️ ICYMI: Yesterday, our province took an important step forward by allowing the use of Indigenous languages in the Ontario Legislature. Thanks to the tireless advocacy and work of our Deputy Leader, MPP Sol Mamakwa, this change honours the language, culture and history of

We need real solutions and real leadership. It means doing the right thing, especially when it’s hard. Let’s be the city who reaches out with compassion and empathy. / end

I worry for our city. We do not have the housing or the supports for our most vulnerable. And are we really becoming a city where it’s okay to video the most vulnerable? It is such an insult to one’s dignity. I don’t have answers but I am shocked at what I saw. 3/

What was opposite? An encampment. The vehicle was unmarked so no idea who it was. Parked so the driver could film people living unhoused. There are a lot of good people working to support our neighbours who have no housing. Why does it feel like we are falling more behind? 2/

As I went to the office today, I noticed a large truck with flashing lights heading into a vacant lot on Lawrence Road. I looked over. What I saw disturbed me. A lot. A person in a large SUV (really large), black, no markings. Phone in hand, videoing the area opposite. 1/

The high cost of free parking.
What an appalling display of civic values. Free parking over affordable housing. Shame on each of you @TedMcMeekin @MarkTadeson @BCouncillor @jeffbeattie2014 @PaulsEsther @mspadafora2022 Matt Francis Tom Jackson #HamOnt

I agree with Mayor Horwath. The City is starting to do things differently to change the future of those in need of affordable housing. The 8 who voted no really need to say what they stand for. Largely the same group who voted down the vacant unit tax. Do better. Way better.
My statement on Committee’s decision to reject a staff recommendation related to the utilization of city property to build affordable housing.

Has the councillor who wants affordable housing actually done anything? Voting against vacant unit tax now this. Asking for a City. Plan to use Stoney Creek parking lot for housing rejected
