I enjoy following MLS clubs and seeing how they try to push the game forward, but I’ve lost interest in advocating for MLS quality as a whole If the league office is content with a quarter century of losing on the international stage, I don’t see why I should care more than them

Weird part of this Club World Cup is European teams playing competitive, important games and it's dark outside in the United States.

An IQ test on the timeline is anyone complaining about attendance at the club world cup 35,000 fans per game is better than every league in the world other than Premier League and Bundesliga. Venue selection should've been better but I promise the next CWC won't average more.

Miami is spending over $1 billion on their new stadium. MLS has raised the price of everything and made Miami one of the most "valuable" clubs in the world AND YET, OVER 1/3 OF THEIR ROSTER MAKES $150K OR LESS Their pockets have grown 10x the rate of the quality. BY DESIGN

Noah Allen is starting at center back today against the European champions. He makes $125k PER YEAR. Marquinos, starting for PSG at CB, makes that in under 3 days.

If you want to know what it looks like when a league really goes for it despite not having a strong domestic player base, it's clubs like Al-Hilal that spend at every position. MLS has been using DPs as lipstick on pigs for around 20 years now.

Everything happening to Miami right now was preventable and predictable. They could very easily have attracted the talent necessary to not look ridiculous The lack of quality is by design to keep rich people rich while giving us as shitty of a product as they can get by with

Where were you when Eurosnobs learned that good soccer could be played outside of Europe? This week has been a death blow to the Eurolarpers. Keep your heads up kings, don't let your fedoras fall.

The way Euro-centric soccer fans talk about the Club World Club is exactly how NBA fans talk about international competition I'm amazed that actual adults don't understand that just because *you* don't care about something, doesn't mean it doesn't matter to anyone

If an MLS club gets out of the group stage and wins a knockout game (unlikely, but possible), that would echo out over the conversation around the league longer than any single goal clip, DP signing, attendance metric.. The ticket to prominence is winning internationally.

MLS having 1 club go far at the Club World Cup would do more for the reputation of American club soccer than 1 million gimmicks like Leagues Cup or some overcomplicated playoff system Winning internationally, first in CONCACAF & then the world, is the key that unlocks everything

The big question I have is what is the buy-in at the lowest level. If it takes a $5 million expansion fee just to get a team off the ground then that takes a lot of edge off in terms of the amount of smaller teams that can really carve their way up.

What I don't understand is why anyone would mock USL for trying this. From a business perspective, it's what they have to do. There is not a long-term future in being a minor league. They're putting their balls on the table and I respect it.

Coming back to this account to say that for anyone who is disappointed in the way that MLS has treated its fans and the game over the last few years, this is an opportunity to support an alternative This isn't about taking down MLS, but a more organic alternative is welcome.

There is no format of the tournament that will work. It's like trying to make bread out of dirt and sand. It's just a watered-down, cash grab version of an already existing and unpopular tournament (CONC. Champions Cup). It has no long-term future.

One step further away from this horrible tournament for Liga MX is good news Liga MX has to realize MLS needs them more than the reverse. End the traveling circus and reclaim some competitive fire in the region by doing everything possible to get back into CONMEBOL competitions

Liga MX Commissioner Mikel Arriola: "We have just approved the new Leagues Cup format... We are no longer going to concentrate there, we are going to play during the week... we are not going to interrupt the Liga MX, fortunately, because the request of the clubs was very clear."

There’s no question he could get 2x or 3x this amount in MLS He shouldn’t, given he can come later in his career and still get a fat check in his mid-30s from an MLS team, but it’s crazy that he’s currently making around the same as what Michael Bradley made in MLS 10 years ago

🔴⚫️🇺🇸 AC Milan are closing in on new deal for Christian Pulisic after excellent season again. @MatteMoretto 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼 New contract valid until June 2028 plus one more year as option or straight to 2029. Pulisic will be among the best paid players at Milan, around €4/5m net per year.

The first ingredient there is what MLS has been attempting to mooch off of LMX. MLS knows they don't have a Club America or Chivas But that kind of aura can only come with time. For now, they have to focus on playing consequential international games and increasing the quality.

1. History and personal allegiances 2. Consequential OR high quality soccer These are the ingredients you need to be a league the masses will go out of their way to watch. Right now, MLS has neither the rich history OR quality of competitors. You can't be average at both.

I was a big fan of the move over to Apple TV for MLS because I figured the influx of money would bring a substantial change in player quality, but that didn't happen Winning MLS Cup is simply inconsequential in the larger soccer sphere because of quality, thus interest suffers
