After 2 years reading the Oz books aloud to my kids, we’re finally starting Glinda of Oz, Baum’s last. It's hitting me harder than I expected. A thread on voice, legacy, and letting go 1/

I love the bit I've read from Howard Pyle. Robin Hood is lovely. The first two Arthurian books are exciting, gorgeous and inspirational, definite recommendations. I'd like to read more.

11.06.25 Push-Ups 75 (45. 30.) I used to do 1 breath per push-up, but today I breathed more naturally and did them faster amd easier. What happened? Knee is almost recovered. Squats suspended for now. Started IF at 3:30 PM yesterday. Planning to break fast at 8:30, so 17 hours.

72 Push-Ups. 30. 20. 22. Left knee still feels funny. I am walking more to help it. It feels slightly swollen. Iy was tender with normal motion. That has lessened. I will continue to monitor it.

70 Push-Ups this morning. They were tough. I did 30, 10, 10, 10 and 10. Not sure why. Left knee still felt odd, so no Squats today.

Last night we read Chapter 11. It's odd how short some of the chapters are. This one had a battle of sorts in it, which is likely why it was so short. Baum does not indulge in battles, especially not in the later books. This golden pig was involved in the tussle.

70 Push-Ups. I tried to do them slow and low/deep. My left knee feels tenser, so no aquats today.

I've been working on getting back into the rhythm of working out again. This morning I did 70 Squats and 70 Push-ups.

This is definitely a recommended read.
It's not just a great military science fiction; it's great science fiction. What will we do in the future when the power to destroy is incalculable? Double down on what makes us noble. Duty. Honor. Courage. They're not just words... for Jacob T. Grimm, they're a way of life.

I wrote more about this moment, and what it means to me as a dad, reader, and storyteller: https://t.co/tGlk1D60b4 8/

Reflecting on what it means to start Glinda of Oz, the final book L. Frank Baum ever wrote, and what that means as a reader, a parent, and a writer.

The series continued after Baum, 21 more books by Ruth Plumly Thompson. His wife, Maud, handpicked her. That matters to me. Maybe Oz can live beyond Baum, even if part of me wants to stop here. 7/

Glinda of Oz feels sacred. Not religious—but personal. Like a goodbye letter. Baum died 9 days before his 63rd birthday. His last words? “Now we can cross the shifting sands.” If you’ve read Oz, you know what that means. 6/
