Finished 1st round of beta feedback. Now I’m refining the opening chapters—upping the stakes as I await another beta return. BENEATH THE SANDS OF MARS is almost ready to battle in the query trenches!

Looking forward to querying my MS sometime in August. I know that many literary agents close for summer, so the process will likely run 2 to 3 months. I say it every time, but I think this is “the one”! Eventually, it will be. It will be.

The AC in my Explorer has not functioned in years, so I went to YouTube University last night and found some great vids. Rigged my actuator open today after work, recharged the system, and bazinga! Ready for summer.

I'm on my final editing pass before handing my MS over to beta readers for feedback. I read aloud this pass, and the tiny errors I always find amaze me, like missing words that my mind plugs in bc I'm so attached to the story. Finishing my readthrough today. Get ready!.

This editing round is complete!. When I started, I had 373 pages, and 90,002 words. Today, my MS rests at 84,923 words, 359 pages. I’m going to take a few days off, and then start a final polishing pass.

68 pages remain in the editing pass of my MS from December '24. Fingers crossed I finish this weekend, and then another polish pass before sending it to a few beta readers, before final edits and querying!.

I edited another 10% of my WIP today, cutting out an additional 600 words! I'm on track to finish by the 4th of July. After that, another run at the 1st 50 pages, and a final editing pass . then to start querying!.

So excited to say that I talked with a good writing friend about a project – that was his idea – and came clean that I wanted to write this thing. Just got off the phone with him, and he greenlighted me to move forward. This idea is unbelievable and I am grateful for his blessing.
