Congratulations to sophomore Ashton Bettinger on passing his 3G bend test. Ashton is now certified in SMAW flat, horizontal and vertical up to 3/8”. Very big achievement for anyone but more impressive given his age and the fact that this is something he worked on outside of class

These 5 ladies have been the camera crew for our team for the past 4 seasons. They were there when things worked great and when things didn’t work at all. They’ve made my life 1,000 times easier and less stressful on game day. I am going to miss them more than they’ll know.

Ashton Bettinger has been working hard on a new sign for Sangamon Township ball diamonds. Should be ready for delivery later this week. This thing is massive and will last a long time.

I forgot to get any pictures but this comes less than a week after 2018 graduate Alex Orberson stopped in with his girlfriend who is also a welder. They both spent time working with kids and giving them advice.

Giving back to the program, 2022 graduate Tyler Casey came back today to visit and ended up spending some one-on-one time with Sophomore Ashton Bettinger. Answering questions and talking about welding. These are the experiences that change lives. #GiveBack

Big thanks to John Burse and the folks at Valentine’s Tire and Auto. John noticed our tire was flat on the work trailer and took it upon himself to get it fixed. He took it out to Valentine’s and they gave us a new tire for it. John had it back on within an hour.

When your wife tells you the Gaga Pit needs repaired you put it on the list. When a 4th grader named Jaxie hunts you down at the football scrimmage to let you know that the Gaga Pit needs repaired you move it to the top of the list. Enjoy, Jaxie and all the WH kiddos.

Building Trades 2 started the year off by working a project we were unable to get to last year. Thanks to MAEF for funding the project. We finished and installed the musical fence at Washington school on Friday in front of many interested spectators.

The last 16 years I’ve coached Freshman football at MHS. Ten years ago I coached a group of Freshmen that would go on to win state as Seniors. Two of those guys are back and on staff and I can’t think of any better guys to turn the freshmen over to. @SagesAthletics

Some high school students are honoring a fallen Marine by making some new bike racks for the park that bears his name. https://t.co/REKPXYV9I7

It’s not painted yet but we had to give it a go on the last Friday with seniors. This was a year long project by Jack Wills and Camden McIntosh. Trailer was donated by Stewart Family Hardware.

Spent some time this afternoon talking with Terry Summer, Callie McFarland and Marilyn Spurlock about the Burke Park bike racks. Was honored that Mrs. Spurlock (PFC Burke’s sister) gifted me this sign to hang in my classroom.

Student engagement is the level of interest, attention, and motivation that students show when they're learning. Perfect example! @MHSWoodham #gosages
