Morden Hall Park @MHPNatureGroup Hobby. Falcon. Seen above cafe 5th October and seen again down the road at Mitcham tram stop by Claire Williams 18th October. Most likely a juvenile. Most Hobbies are now leaving UK heading to Africa. Keep an eye out : )

Morden Peregrines. 1/2. One of the male juveniles has fledged. The first flight I saw was from the far left of the back of the roof past the nest ledge and then disappearing over the right end of the roof. I couldn't relocate him then but soon after he appeared on the lift block.

Morden Peregrines. Feeding time. I'm not sure the juveniles were too impressed when Mum flew off with the remains of the Pigeon! Note some feathers flying when she's plucking the prey in the second image. No juveniles were seen flying today while I was there. #londonbirds

Morden Peregrines. Today I saw one of the females fly. She went from the nest ledge round to the front of the building. I couldn't relocate her then, but for the first time in a couple of days all 4 were visible early this evening. So at least 2 (1m, 1f) have now fledged.

2/2. DNA samples were also taken which will be added to the Peregrine DNA database. This is part of a national programme to fight against illegal wild bird trade, and which has already led to convictions. The images above are of the chicks being fed a Parakeet this evening.

Morden Peregrines. 1/2. The chicks were ringed under licence today. They have a metal @_BTO ring on their right leg, and an orange/black letters 'Darvic' colour ring on their left. Based on their weight we have 2 males, ZFT (640g) & ZHT (590g) & 2 females, ZJT (870g) & ZLT (855g)

Morden Peregrines. The 2nd and 3rd hatched chicks are now 1 week old - the eldest was yesterday and the youngest tomorrow. The camera was off-line over the weekend but is back now, and it's good to see how well they are doing. Compare them to that broken shell now! #londonbirds

Morden Peregrines. Some lovely images of two feeds today, the first by both adults (male had a Starling I think, female a Parakeet), then one this afternoon when the male fed the chicks, seemingly supervised by the female! #londonbirds

Morden Peregrines. The 4th chick has hatched this morning. The female got up to get food at 05.33 and revealed what looked like a freshly hatched chick, and another broken shell, and all 4 can be seen during the feed (of just the other 3 at this stage). #londonbirds

Morden Peregrines. A third chick has hatched during the night, I think early this morning. The male has been feeding, and brooding, them, and while not clear views they can all be seen in these images. Interestingly, this one appears to have hatched from the first/pale egg.

Morden Peregrines. Good to see that the male has met his chicks this evening, briefly brooded them while the female went to retrieve the food he'd presumably brought, and they then had their first feed - though one was hidden behind the post.

Morden Peregrines. A second chick hatched at 15.42. I had suspected there were 'pips' earlier in two of the eggs, and which can just be seen in the first image of my previous post. The male has delivered some prey remains which have been left in front of the sitting female!

Morden Peregrines. The 1st chick of 2025 has just hatched. This was sometime between 12.27 and 12.52 (when broken shell can be seen) and the first view of the chick was at 13.25. It's now 40 days since the 1st egg, then 37, 35 and 33 days for the others. Hopefully more to come.
