Each time you try to avoid feeling something you are making an attempt not to be human. That hasn't worked for me, and I doubt it will work for you.

The secret is that there is no secret. The longer you believe there is a secret, the longer you look for it, the longer you plan, the longer you think about it, the longer you wait until you're "ready," the longer you will do nothing and the longer you will get nowhere.

Every single day I meet someone who tells me: "I can't meditate, because my mind wanders." Well, here's the truth. That happens to everyone, including skilled meditators. You can't stop mind wandering. But you can learn to feel profoundly relaxed, even as your mind wanders.

To free yourself from the grip of stress and anxiety simply let go of the tension in your body. To do this, focus on the tension with a gentle curiosity, and slowly breathe out. There’s no need to suppress or interrogate the emotion. Just release your grip and let yourself be.

The conventional view is that some emotions—like happiness—are good, while others—like fear and anger—are bad. While some emotions are certainly more pleasurable than others, it’s counterproductive to think of them as being either good or bad. Feelings just are. — Susan David

Here's some good news: If you feel anxious, that means that right now you are safe, because anxiety is always about something that is yet to happen.

Emotions come and go (just like hunger does) and the advice "this too shall pass" offers some relief. However, if you're hungry, you might want to eat. And if you're feeling some emotion, you might want to figure out what appropriate action or behaviour is necessary.
