On Monday 30 June, @GOVUK released its Solar Roadmap. Fed into by industry experts, and developed by the Solar Taskforce, it outlines plans to boost solar energy and meet the UK’s goal of 45 - 47GW of solar power by 2030.

In May 2025, @energygovuk launched a consultation on the Clean Heat Market Mechanism, covering 2 main topics: setting a Year 2 heat pump target of 8–10% of relevant boiler sales and naming MCS as the sole certification scheme for the CHMM. Our response:

Emphasising the importance of this, Tom explains “You can see that we are going to build a renewable generation, but if the wind doesn’t blow or the sun doesn’t shine, we need somewhere to store the energy, and TESS is a system that can do this.”.

Following a question regarding timescales, Ian responds “We have been building this for quite a while, it has now gone to the CBs to gain their accreditation to deliver the Scheme. All 8 CBs have submitted their paperwork, but it will still be a few months to apply for.”.

“Certification bodies will now be conducting asseememts to our prescription via the Conformity Assessment Guidelines and it will be risk based. As a standards organisation, we need to have standardised assessments, which this document allows for.”.
