🌿MBP Team Member Highlight: Meet Lucile, our devoted PhD student at Tangalavaka Field Station- Montagne des Français. 📷Her project aims to acquire complete baseline data to promote effective conservation actions for the Northern Sportive Lemur (Lepilemur septentrionalis).

At KAFS, the black-and-white ruffed lemur team, greater bamboo lemur team, and aye-aye team are showing off their new rainboots thanks to the support by @calgaryzoo !

Nearby our field station in Montage des Francais, the area is plagued by the illicit charcoal trade. Thanks to the Eaux et Foret DIANA (DREDD), Gendarmes, and VOI Rangers we're working to stop deforestation. We planted 2,000 trees for #WorldRangerDay TY @Conserva_Allies @arborday

Meet our newest volunteer, Georgia! Georgia will be heading to the Ihofa Vohitsara Bioreserve and Field Station (IVB) and will be joining up with current Malagasy volunteer, Lahatra, who was happy to join us for an extended stay with the program! Bio:

Alluaudia montagnacii is commonly used as timber in Lavavolo. While the population status of this species has not been assessed, its future decline may have an irreversible impact on the ecosystem. We are propagating Alluadia in plots using sections of stem instead of seeds!

We're saddened to report the poaching of an endangered crowned lemur in Montagne des Francias Protected Area. Site Manager, Aubin, and VOI Rangers from nearby Andavakoeara village found the deceased lemur after reports of illegal charcoal production. (1/2)

Planting trees is one of the things we do best. But on #ArborDay was celebrate every tree we put back in the ground and today that was 14,000! 4 communities, women's associations, local football team and forest rangers joined the events today. Special shout-out to @arborday! 1/2
