Say no to pillows until the baby is at least 12 months old (or 12 months from their due date for premature babies). Remember, a baby needs to sleep on a surface that is firm, and flat. (2/3🧵)

Tag the people who might visit your new baby, to remind them to wash their hands and to avoid kisses. It can be difficult to set clear boundaries, especially with friends and family who all love your baby too. (1/3🧵)

Today is ‘Time To Talk Day’ 💬 It can be tricky to know what to say to someone who has experienced the death of a baby or child. But often for bereaved families, the most painful encounters are those when people say nothing at all. (1/2🧵)

Baby should sleep in the room you’re in, day and night, for at least the first six months to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). You can still nip to the loo or go and make a cup of tea, but keep baby in the same room as you as much as possible. (1/2🧵)

Regularly check baby’s chest or the back of their neck if using a rain cover, and remove a layer of clothing if they are sweaty or clammy. You also need to take the rain cover off when you go inside. Please share far and wide to raise awareness. (2/2🧵)

Many of us know all too well that babies like to poop! 💩 That’s why it’s so important to use a 100% waterproof cover over any mattress a baby sleeps on. This keeps the mattress protected from accidents and prevents a build up of bacteria inside. (1/2🧵)
