As both circus lover and secondary school teacher in a large Academy (not the school mentioned), it was such a joy to read this tweet over on education channels - here's to circus everywhere and those that bring the magic into play. Much needed and appreciated!
Today, in a community of high deprivation and significant challenge, a child rode joyfully on the shoulders of a circus performer on a unicycle. Thank you to the HT who shared this image with me and to the schools that weave magic amidst the challenges. Schools are special places

I retrained @IOE_London doing a PGCE in Modern Languages for secondary education and now teach both languages in a large South London academy. It is a great privilege and a juggling act.

Inspired by the example of circus artists and performers like @Michaelaoconno6 teaching @NationalCircus, I decided to retrain as a teacher myself, in my subject area - French and Spanish.

I loved the people, the location (a stone's throw from circus friends) and it was interesting working client side when in the past (a very distant past) I had been on the other side as an auditor. However, I soon realised that a back office job was not for me in the long term.

After sailing round the world, I came back to London and combined a love of performing arts with my background as a chartered accountant and from 2018-2019 worked as a finance manager for a Conservatoire.

G’day folks! 1,000 nautical miles from New Caledonia a week later - and over 20,000nm from La Rochelle, France a year ago - have sailed safely with family into port in Bundaberg, Australia. Best feeling in the world! Giving thanks.
