Proud to issue a joint proclamation w/ Speaker
@CSexton25
on behalf of
@TNHouseReps
&
@tnsenate
members condemning the immoral invasion of Israel by wicked Hamas terrorists. Now more than ever, it’s critical to stand unequivocally with our strongest ally in the Middle East.
After experiencing symptoms of an irregular heartbeat, I checked into Vanderbilt hospital earlier today. Tests indicate I will likely need a pacemaker to help regulate my cardiac issues. I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers. I hope to be back at work as soon as possible.
Grateful for the heroic actions and valorous service of Staff Sergeant Justin Peck of Clarksville, Tennessee recognized this evening by
@POTUS
in
#SOTU2018
.
Happy to report my pacemaker surgery went smoothly. Currently in recovery and resting comfortably. Thank you to friends, family, colleagues and citizens across the state for your messages, prayers and support. Looking forward to getting back to work!
Deeply saddened that we have lost Phil Valentine to COVID-19. He was an inspirational and persuasive conservative voice. He will be greatly missed. If you haven’t yet done so, please consider vaccination. It is the only way to defeat this scourge.
My position on the bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest has been clear and consistent over a number of years. I believe that context is needed, but not removal. No one is arguing that Forrest is not a problematic figure. He is. But there is more to his story.
In Tennessee, we officially recognize the third Monday in February as Washington Day to commemorate the birth of the father of our nation and our first president, George Washington. Happy Washington Day, Tennessee!
Beautiful day to enjoy a frozen treat and welcome ICEE headquarters to Tennessee! With low taxes and a skilled workforce our state is a destination, and we’re proud to announce 200 jobs coming to La Vergne.
May we always remember the acts heroism committed by our first responders and the sense of unity we shared on this day 19 years ago. Let us never forget, not for one moment, those who served, those who died and those who carry on.
Deeply honored to be re-elected as Speaker of
@tnsenate
and Lieutenant Governor for a third term. This last year has been tough for Tennessee and our nation. But our state has weathered the adversity better than anyone. That's because we are Tennesseans. Let's go to work!

Great meeting today with Speedway Motorsports CEO
@MarcusSMI
and
@BMSupdates
General Manager
@jcaldwellbms
. Appreciate what they do for our state and the sport of racing.
Tonight,
#TennesseeValues
prevailed. Chuck and I are incredibly humbled and grateful for the outpouring of support, well wishes and prayers that we have received over the last year. We truly could not have done this without you—THANK YOU.

“Make no mistake: we will do whatever it takes to make Tennessee the best state in America to be a student, and that means making Tennessee the best state in America to be a teacher.” —
@GovBillLee

Without historical context, we would have no Tennessee heroes, only villains. No Christian saints, only sinners. The left-wing activists who are pushing an anti-American, anti-history agenda here in Tennessee and across the nation will not stop with Nathan Bedford Forrest.
In Christ’s resurrection, we are given hope that righteousness, compassion and love are stronger than evil. Have a restful and blessed Easter as we remember and appreciate the unfathomable sacrifice He made for us.
“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” ~ Matthew 28:6
Today the legendary Thelma Harper traded in her signature hat for a halo. A transformative public figure, she was a fierce advocate for her constituents and the city of Nashville. She was a role model for many and greatly respected by all who served with her. She will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with Senator
@kerryeroberts
tonight. Senator Roberts was taken to the hospital this afternoon after suffering an aneurysm. He is currently stable and alert. He will be kept at the hospital for observation as he recovers.
Congratulations to my friend
@senatornorris
on his confirmation as U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Tennessee. Mark has been a smart and thoughtful legislator. He will be a smart and thoughtful judge.
Congratulations to the Honorable
@senatornorris
and his wife, Chris. Mark will make an outstanding federal jurist. We will all miss his keen mind, sound judgment and strong leadership in state government. Best wishes, Mark and Chris!
The entire
#tnleg
family is heartbroken by the loss of longtime staff member, Glenn Barber. Glenn worked hard to assist members, fellow staffers and visitors in every way possible. His commitment to helping others and his ever-positive attitude will be missed by all.
I am extremely honored, humbled and grateful to be re-elected Speaker of the
@tnsenate
and Lt. Governor for a second term. I thank my Senate colleagues and the people of Tennessee from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity to continue in this role.
An outstanding State of the State address by Governor Bill Lee.
@GovBillLee
’s vision for the future is conservative, forward-thinking and fiscally responsible.
Each year, on the third Monday in February, Tennessee officially celebrates the father of our nation and our first President, George Washington. Happy Washington Day, Tennessee!
I am truly humbled to be nominated by my caucus for re-election as Speaker of the Senate. It has been the honor of my life to serve my Senate colleagues as speaker and the people of Tennessee as lieutenant governor.
Proudly celebrating Firefighter Day on the Hill here at the Capitol. Grateful for every Tennessee firefighter who signs up to rush into danger while others run away.
On this day 222 years ago, the United States of America accepted the sixteenth and greatest state into its Union. Happy Statehood Day, Tennessee!
#tnstatehoodday
On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress issued a resolution calling for an official United States flag. 243 years later our flag still flies throughout the world as a symbol of freedom and liberty. Happy Flag Day!
Congratulations to my daughter Maggie on completing her masters degree in social work. I’m very proud of this accomplishment and her career devoted to helping people.
Christ’s resurrection gives us hope that righteousness, compassion and love are stronger than the forces of darkness. It is my hope that each and every Tennessean has a restful and blessed Easter as we remember and appreciate the unfathomable sacrifice He made for us.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
#StPatricksDay
Congratulations to our Republican gubernatorial nominee
@BillLeeTN
. As he drove his tractor across this state, Bill met the real Tennessee and the real Tennessee met him. They liked what they saw. So do I.
Great thread.
@GovAndyBeshear
’s comments are misleading and ultimately political. TN tests 4.5 times the rate of KY. More positives result but percentage is same as KY. People of KY and TN are friends. Leaders should work together. Rise above partisanship. Be better.
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.” ~ 1 Peter 2:24
Proud to support
@VoteMarsha
in Knoxville. Marsha is the conservative champion we need in Washington to fight for the Trump agenda. She fought for Tennessee values in the legislature and in Congress. We need her to keep fighting in the United States Senate. Vote Marsha!
Our nation spent significant blood and treasure during WWII to rid the world of the wicked and murderous ideology of Nazism. To see this hate resurface on the streets of our state Capitol was horrific. Those thugs do not represent TN values and they are not welcome here — ever.
With passage of HB2643, the Cordell Hull Plaza shall be the “Beth Harwell Plaza” and the tunnel from the Capitol to Cordell Hull shall be the “Ron Ramsey Tunnel.” A well-deserved honor for
@TNHouseReps
first female speaker and the first
@TNGOP
@tnsenate
speaker in modern times.
Speaker Sexton and I have cancelled all
#tnleg
committee meetings this morning. We are advising staff not to report until further notice. Prayers for all those experiencing loss due to the tornadoes and severe weather.
Great news.
@randyboyd
has done a fantastic job as
@UT_President
. I am grateful he will be continuing that great work. Excellent decision by the Board of Trustees.
Speaker Casada announcing his intent to resign is the right decision for the legislature, the
@TNGOP
and the state. I commend him for it. Now we move forward. I am committed to working with leadership in the House to help restore the trust that has been lost in any way I can.
Tennessee officially recognizes the third Monday in February as Washington Day to commemorate the birth of our first president and the father of our nation, George Washington. Happy Washington Day, Tennessee!
Please join me in giving thanks for friends, family and living in the free and prosperous state of Tennessee. Thank you for allowing me to serve as Senator and Lt. Governor. Happy Thanksgiving!
I was honored to join
@GovBillLee
in Knoxville to celebrate Statehood Day. Tennessee is an outstanding state with a rich history and heritage. I am proud to live in Tennessee and serve its people as lieutenant governor.
The individual who raped and murdered seven-year-old Paula Dyer over 30 years ago is now deceased. While capital punishment is an act of the state no one relishes, it is the most appropriate punishment available to us for crimes such as these.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Tennessee!
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
From the War of 1812, when we earned our Volunteer State nickname, to the present, Tennessee has gone above and beyond in sending its sons and daughters to defend freedom. As we remember the fallen today, we should feel proud to be Americans and Tennesseans.
Picked up my
@tnsenate
re-election petition today. It’s a great honor to serve the people of Anderson, Loudon & Knox counties. We’ve cut taxes, kept debt low & cultivated a pro-jobs economy. Much left to do. Looking forward to working hard to earn your vote.
What is happening in Nashville is a descent into madness. This is not who we are. The outside agitators responsible for this mayhem should cease, desist and leave our state. The police are not perfect. Those who transgress against our citizens should be brought to justice.
At the request of Mayor Cooper, I am authorizing the National Guard to mobilize in response to protests that have now taken a violent, unlawful turn in Nashville.
The woke mob means ultimately to uproot and discard not just Southern symbols, but American heroes and history as well. This is not the end. It is the beginning.
Welcome to Nashville,
@realDonaldTrump
! Looking forward to a great speech and rally in support of the woman we need as our next United States Senator,
@VoteMarsha
!
This is good news. Biden’s order was unconstitutional from the start and never should have been made. Glad to see the courts taking action and OSHA complying.
Last week, both chambers of the General Assembly came together to pass an emergency budget in a bipartisan fashion. Today,
@CSexton25
and I signed the bill. This budget preserves the essential services of government and protects the future as we combat COVID-19.

Miss Tootie was the backbone of the Senate for many years. A true Southern Belle and a stalwart Republican, she was a wise counselor to many and a faithful friend to all she encountered.
May Christ’s peace and hope be with your family this holiday season and throughout the new year. Let every man, woman and child in Tennessee rejoice in the promise, the gift and the miracle of Christmas. Merry Christmas to all!
Congratulations to
@SenDougOverbey
on his confirmation as U.S. Attorney. We will miss his talents & skills in the Senate but I take solace in the fact that East TN has gained an outstanding new federal prosecutor.
While many had passionate views regarding the election and even how it was carried out, America always respects the results of certified elections.
@JoeBiden
is our President-elect. He will be inaugurated on January 20. I congratulate him and wish him well as he leads our nation.
May Christ’s peace and hope be with you and your family this holiday season and throughout the new year. Let all of Tennessee rejoice in the miracle of Christmas. Merry Christmas to all!
