During this sacred ceremony, I was blessed by Elders in the presence of family, friends and community. This gesture of respect and lifelong friendship is one that will continue to inspire me as I walk on my own journey of reconciliation. /2.

On Monday I was truly humbled to attend a memorable ceremony where Blackfoot Elders gifted me with what will always be my Indigenous name: Iss'stoo'tsimaaKii, or "Eagle Plume Woman." /1

Yesterday I awarded King Charles III Coronation Medals to two women I admire greatly: schoolteacher and community volunteer Barb Lemon; and pediatrician and international children's health advocate Dr. Jenn Brenner. Congratulations to both.

Five years ago today, I was sworn in as the 19th Lieutenant Governor of Alberta. It continues to be the honour of my lifetime, a role that has only deepened my appreciation for this beautiful province and the incredible people who populate it.

Today is the 149th anniversary of the signing of Treaty No. 6. Our journey as Treaty People continues and depends upon the mutual compassion, understanding, and respect between all who share this beautiful land.

Thank you to Dr. Tim Loreman for the warm hospitality he showed me during my visit to Concordia yesterday, and to honourary degree recipient Mary Jane James for sharing her story. It was an honour to tour kihêwak kâpimihâcik, the university's new Indigenous Student Centre.

On this International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief, I think of Robert F. Kennedy’s observation that “the answer to the intolerant man is diversity, the very diversity which our heritage of religious freedom has inspired.”

I have been a busy playgoer at this year's Edmonton Fringe Festival--but not so busy that I haven't also found time to explore onsite attractions like the interactive "Whose Land Are You On?" installation, which thoughtfully explores the deep history of Turtle Island.

Today marks the 83rd anniversary of the raid on Dieppe during WWII. Let us honour the Canadian soldiers who fought courageously that day, and whose sacrifice ultimately made possible the Allied victory on D-Day.

Planning my playgoing schedule for the @edmontonfringe is always one of my favourite summer tasks. With 218 shows in every imaginable genre to choose from this year, the task will be daunting, but it’s hard to go wrong!
