In 1975, the Duchess of Kent presented my husband with his medical degree in her capacity as Chancellor of the University of Leeds. I join the Royal Family in mourning her death. She leaves behind a legacy of compassionate public service and devotion to her family.
It is with deep sorrow that Buckingham Palace announces the death of Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Kent. Her Royal Highness passed away peacefully last night at Kensington Palace, surrounded by her family. The King and Queen and all Members of The Royal Family join The Duke

I was very excited to welcome the Duchess of Edinburgh to Alberta yesterday afternoon. She is here to lend her patronage to Spruce Meadows, the world-renowned equestrian facility in Calgary, and we shared our great admiration for the park’s co-founder Margaret Southern.

Yesterday I attended the celebratory opening and flag-raising ceremony for the U of A's glorious new University Commons building. It is a beautiful structure, all the more so because of how it reflects the culture of the Indigenous people whose land it occupies.

September was declared Mexican Heritage Month in Alberta in 2023. If you’ve ever attended the Calgary Stampede, you’ve seen just one way Mexican newcomers have had an impact on Alberta culture. ¡Viva México!

Fifty years ago, after the fall of Saigon, many Vietnamese refugees came to Alberta to build new lives. Vietnamese Heritage Month is an occasion to remember those days, and to appreciate everything the Vietnamese community has contributed since to Alberta culture and business.

Some of my most rewarding times as Alberta’s Lieutenant Governor have been spent hosting the Japanese consul general as well as delegates from Hokkaido and Okinawa. During Japanese Heritage Month, I thank our Japanese friends for our fruitful cultural and business relationship.

On September 1 1905 Alberta joined confederation. On that day GG the Rt. Hon. Earl Grey, said “ I have the most confident expectations that you will realize great things in this new Province”. May we continue to live up to those high expectations! HAPPY 120th. BIRTHDAY ALBERTA!

On Monday I was truly humbled to attend a memorable ceremony where Blackfoot Elders gifted me with what will always be my Indigenous name: Iss'stoo'tsimaaKii, or "Eagle Plume Woman." /1

Yesterday I awarded King Charles III Coronation Medals to two women I admire greatly: schoolteacher and community volunteer Barb Lemon; and pediatrician and international children's health advocate Dr. Jenn Brenner. Congratulations to both.
