The @nsgov bill tabled this week could mean any Auditor General report Government doesn’t like "wouldn’t be made public and the numerous veto powers could result in fewer public reports," says AG Kim Adair. Her full media statement here: https://t.co/XK3WHRqPd9

Pregnancy and infant loss impacts so many, often in silence. On Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day, I’m recognizing Ruby’s Law, passed by @LoreleiNicoll in 2022. Her advocacy in honor of her granddaughter Ruby ensures grieving parents now have the support they deserve.
A win for women and parents who experience pregnancy loss, bereavement leave is now law – Ruby’s Law – in honour of my granddaughter.

Temperatures in Nova Scotia are reaching 40 degrees today with the humidex. In 2022, MLA @LoreleiNicoll tabled a bill to bring a vulnerable persons registry to Nova Scotia, making it easier to reach vulnerable people in an emergency. We're still waiting on the Houston government

I want to thank the many service providers across NS who work with women who find the strength to leave an abusive situation. The fact that these organizations are overburdened & in some cases are forced to turn women away, speaks to the extent of the issue in our province.

it is because only 2% of intimate partner violence cases are reported. If the government doesn’t focus on the MCC report recommendations, incl acknowledging domestic violence as an epidemic, it will never get better./3

Over my time in public office, police have continually confirmed that domestic violence calls were their #1 dispatched case & given the NS Justice Min’s public comments stating Nova Scotians are not “seeing it everywhere all the time,” I feel compelled to say …/2
We are shocked and angered. Our statement on comments by Ministers Johns. #novascotia #IPV #GBV #domesticviolence #domesticviolenceisanepidemic
