I don't know why people say this because prior to that, people could always tape vinyl records or songs off the radio, which was just as illegal 🤷♂️. However, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) got a bee in their bonnet about the Amstrad TS35 claiming we were inciting people

44 YEARS AGO: In Oct 1981 I launched the Amstrad TS35 twin-cassette audio system – it taped tapes! Amstrad had set the template, and in the years that followed, every audio manufacturer in the world – including the Japanese and European giants – produced twin cassette audio

Beware of DHL . A friend of mine gave me his sentimental ring to have a stone replaced. I sent it via DHL to USA.They have lost it saying their label came off in transit. Frankly I don’t believe it is the 2nd time they have made this excuse on a lost packet @DHLGlobal

37 YEARS AGO: In 1988 Amstrad launched the PC2000. It turned out a disaster because our hard-disk suppliers, Seagate and Western Digital, shipped us duff units. We successfully sued them but the reputational damage was done. @Nick_Hewer tells the story 👇
