This week Fir Class have been learning all about native birds and wildlife. They have taken part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, measured worms, fed the birds, drawn their own birds and were fortunate enough to have author Linda Whipp read them her new story A Dormouse Tale.

The nursery children visited the animals on the farm. They fed the goats with bananas… “Did you know they like the skin too”?
They checked that the chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs had food and water and that they were warm in the cold wind.

Saplings have been exploring mud! They’ve tried to make different kinds of mud: sloppy, rough, smooth, hard, soft, and talked about how we feel when we touch mud. If we added too much water the mud became very runny and if we added more mud we could build mud castles!

A special shoutout to Andrei in Year 1 for completing part of his homework which was to go on a tree hunt and collect some leaves and identify what type of tree they came from. Andrei then completed a collage of the leaves he collected. We are super impressed! 🍃 🍁 🍂

EYFS have been learning about birds and went on a bird hunt during the week.
Today we welcomed parents into school and we went on a hunt to the garden to find some nests, guessed whose eggs we had found and then took part in a range of egg/bird crafts back in the classroom. 🐦

We want to extend a huge thank you to our brilliant volunteers that gave up two of their bank holidays to donate their time to our school farm.
The goats are happy with their new shelter for keeping dry and shaded. The chickens are excited to use their new shed. 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼

Huge thanks for a donation from ‘Drayton Action for Heath’. Funds have allowed us to purchase 2 tables with chalk boards that will allow children to relax in the outdoors and get creative. This is in response to a pupil voice survey informing us of what improves their wellbeing.
