Just like the Navajo, indigenous tribes up and down the Owens River are having their water stolen.

The Supreme Court ruled the U.S. govt is not responsible for ensuring water access for Indigenous tribes in a 5-4 vote. Nearly 1 in 3 people who live on the Navajo Nation reservation do not have access to clean water, despite living alongside the Colorado River.

Thurs pm I tried to drive into Montana Mts on Pole Creek public access road at Thacker Pass. Blocked for awhile by Allied Security. EIS prohibits road closure. ā€œBossā€ was decked out in tan face mask and sunglasses. Mercenary thug attire — Ā in Orovada NV. https://t.co/1coeLZ9Tzx

A new study published in the journal Biological Conservation found that the presence of geothermal plants ā€œadversely affectedā€ greater sage-grouse populations within sagebrush ecosystems.

Owens Lake, once one of the largest lakes in the Eastern Sierra before being drained by the LA Aqueduct in 1913, is making a major comeback due to heavy runoff generated by California's record winter. The lake has grown to nearly 25 square miles, its largest size in 110 years.

FREE WOOD! From our friends at the #LawsRailroadMuseum, 4.5 mi. north of Bishop along Hwy 6. In the parking lot across from the museum. It's from trees that were sick and needed to be cut down. You just need to pick it up and chop it yourself. Feel the warmth! There till gone.

What makes the impending ā€œbig meltā€ even more worrisome is that the San Joaquin Valley does not have a centralized, well-funded flood management system. Instead, a patchwork of local water managers, counties & private land owners are largely in chargeā€¦ā€ https://t.co/rakhfgwkTD

As California’s historic snowfall gives way to the warmth of Spring, that snowpack will eventually melt, creating an even more historic risk for flooding in places woefully unprepared to handle it.
