But what if the entire game was silhouettes, save for the backgrounds? How would you execute on such a concept to make everything identifiable in a player's memory when you have, at most, two colors to work with? Someday, I intend to find out.

I'm not staring at the backgrounds while I'm navigating and shooting enemies, I'm looking at what I can stand on. This artstyle is very impressive technically, but fails to serve the gameplay (at least in Dread, maybe Strider is fully linear). Artstyle must serve gameplay.

The joke here, dear reader, is that both games overemphasize the backgrounds, making the foregrounds nigh indistinguishable in one's mind because they're jet black. I find this detrimental in Dread because spatial awareness and environment recognition are crucial to Metroid.
