My recent bioRxiv preprint! We demonstrate an entirely novel way of shielding AAVs from the neutralizing antibodies found in 30-60% of patients - encapsulating the virus inside of an immunologically invisible hollow protein compartment called vault.

Are you a technical founder who wants a better understanding of fundraising in startups? Well, I am too. That's why I wrote up these notes which explore the mechanics and terminology associated with raising rounds. Hope you find this useful as well!.

There are of course a small number of people within the solarpunk sphere (myself included) who aren't anti-progress. But the social 'institutions' of solarpunk now require ideological purity if one wishes to truly contribute to the movement.

Solarpunk masquerades as a technologically optimistic movement when it actually consists of people who are profoundly suspicious of the scientific worldview, technological progress, and anything new and different.

I really like the idea of solarpunk in principle. But it has taken on so much political baggage that one cannot really participate in the solarpunk movement without adhering to ideas of degrowth, human inferiority, and high tech = bad.

I agree with Alex on everything here. George Church is amazing and this is an unfortunate situation.

George Church is one of my role models. He is super smart, kind, contributed massively to longevity, made numerous breakthroughs, and started many biotech companies. I think that here he fell victim to his enormous generosity and support for the outcasts.

(2/2) By doing so, we could train AI systems to help new companies through the FDA submission process and avoid pitfalls, streamlining and accelerating biomedical translation!. So, it is good to see this article pushing for the idea!.

At the @foresightinst AI x Bio conference, I took part in a working group where we suggested something very similar: establish a fund to buy the FDA submission documents from 'dead' biotech companies as a source of AI training data (1/2).

Great paper which combines expansion microscopy and in situ genome sequencing to map chromatin structure and selected protein targets in cellular nuclei. ExIGS was then used to explore how nuclear lamin protein and genome organization changes during aging.

Despite the title, this article is hopeful about the future of AAVs. Advances in tech that lowers doses and decreases toxicity may lead to a stronger industry in the end. Most importantly, this will bring lifesaving cures to patients who need them.
