As usual, quite clear who is *very* high on their own supply.

There are so many people in politics on this platform who are so invested in a sincere belief that their "team" and their team's positions are pure and right and just and the other "team" is nefarious and terrible and...gasp "un-American." Like just stop it you doofuses.

LA up 4.1% LB up 2.1% NYNJ up 1.7% Savannah up 2.8% Frontloading and tariff pre-empting and demand uncertainty are hurting volumes right now, but it's been far from catastrophic from a container volume perspective on an annual basis.

Seen some suggestions that US importer container demand is suffering right now (it's definitely down in monthly yoy comps), but, as always context is important. The top 4 US container gateways were positive in volume through YTD Oct (none have reported Nov volume) yet.

As someone who absolutely loves sports AND the arts, it’s painful for me see the World Cup draw held in the Kennedy Center, a place that should be reserved exclusively for the arts. But then, literally everything is politics these days.

Look, I get the distaste for witch-hunt journalism. But there are two sides to this coin. If you reflexively dismiss any reporting that doesn't cheerlead the thing you're doing, you're automatically undermining any credibility you have to call anything a "hoax" or "propaganda."

Great to know that journalism "can actually be quite valuable."

The public benefits from neither Sacks' unbridled bravado (he's one of the more prominent "I've never been wrong" people, and that's saying something) but also readers are inured to tech-bro takedowns, so nothing like this will land or mean anything for the forseeable future.

And it's hard to argue the NYT didn't start with the premise of "let's find something juicy to report about this guy."

Of course the truth lies somewhere in between. By default, Sacks will have benefited from his role, the accompanying access, and his general priors of being a...shall we say...opportunistic dude.

The NYT David Sacks piece is just a perfect encapsulation of our broken society right now. Both media people and the tech-people-can-do-no-wrong crowd are predictably circling their respective wagons.

Do you think fruit flies are offended to have their attention spans compared to humans these days?

Congrats to the @LUFC board. This is what happens when you spend £0 on strikers and try to compete in the Premier League.

One thing I kept hearing this week: know the difference between someone who has value and someone who’s purely focused on a being a showman.

If you think the ownership structures and resulting incentives of mainstream media are shady, I have some news for you about the VC media environment.

I mean, closer to home, I'd add that VC execs chatting with their colleagues in the same VC is not an interview, journalism, reporting or anything other than marketing content.

The surface area of "what's wrong with the current media landscape" is so vast right now, but the CEO of the second largest US airline doing an "interview" with the wife of an influential government official is not journalism in any conceivable fashion.
