It was time for our friends to depart back to Barcelona with all of the wares they had accumulated along the trip. They offered to return us to Spain to stay with them in Barcelona. I wanted desperately to go south deeper into Africa but the Western Sahara desert was in the way.

The year was 2000. I just turned 25 and I was on the continent of Africa. We had sojourned from northern Morocco to the farthest south, Marrakech. Downtown was an enormous medina. Upon arrival, we sat down for an incredible Moroccan meal β $7 fed nine people. Clay pot Tajine.

Our travel companions from Barcelona knew all of the ins and outs all of the hidden secrets and gems that Morocco had to offer one of which were the hammam spa's bath houses. Ornate luxurious engineering marvels. Marble floors heated by fire something out of the story book.

Everyday I battle fear and doubt about posting my stories I know there are a handful of you that are enjoying what I have to share but with such little engagement it causes me to doubt its effect. I need a little confidence boost. By a show of hands shall I continue?

The next leg of our journey would take us into the Atlas mountains where we would visit the Ozoud falls. A triple set of waterfalls like something out of an Indiana Jones movie out in the middle of the mountains enroute to our travel companions final destination of Marrakesh

We ended up traveling for the next 3 weeks with our new friends from Barcelona. they would travel to Morocco often to buy Moroccan clothing shirts shoes bags and drums and return to Barcelona to sell them at festivals. They knew all the spots. They had been doing it for years.

While standing in line at the border in Toyota waiting to enter Morocco we met an amazing group from Barcelona they had a van they offered to take us into the interior. Nine in a Nissan driving to Chefchaouen. Also known as the blue City. Famous for its tea houses and hash.

Finally on the ferry to the continent of Africa prepared for the worst all of my research suggested an assault of scammers and would be guides looking to take advantage of travelers. Adorned in modest clothing and head coverings in an effort to blend in. We arrived at the border

There are two points of entry into Morocco by ferry. Tangier and Ceuta. Tangier is the more common and popular point of entry...so I chose to enter in at Ceuta. A small autonomous Spanish city on the north Coast of the continent of Africa. "9 in a Nissan"

One does not simply ride their bicycle into Africa.. after years of traveling almost exclusively by bicycle I made the tough decision to trade in our bicycles. After my research, riding bicycles into Morocco with a woman was not advisable. It was finally time to get on the boat.

We didn't have Google maps or smartphones there were internet cafes but we didn't have the web in our pocket I bought a publication called lonely planet to give me some insight on our adventure to Africa. We cycled from Granada to Cadiz where I would trade our bicycles for gear.

In a quick fast hurry we jumped on a train back to the south of Spain to Granada. Before continuing on to the South Cadiz. We were told that we must visit the Alhambra. A Moorish palace an engineering phenomenon. One must see it in their lifetime.

Trust me listen to this... "Alan Watts born into distressed families"

Why do the most sensitive and spiritually awakened souls often come from families filled with conflict, emotional instability, and generational pain. Why are those with the deepest awareness born...
