LocalCryptos gets excited about people actually _using_ crypto, not just betting on number-go-up. Medium of exchange is still crypto's best use case.

On the other hand, when you buy crypto on a centralized exchange, there's no real transfer of cryptocurrency. Buying a number in someone else's database has nothing to do with the blockchain. It's all IOUs, hardly any different to legacy fiat systems.

LocalCryptos' self-custodial P2P model encourages newcomers to actually try cryptocurrency rather than just speculate on prices. Every LocalCryptos user's very first crypto purchase involves generating a self-hosted wallet and etching a record into the blockchain.

Here's a cool stat: 100% of people who've bought crypto on LocalCryptos have actually used cryptocurrency. 100% have made at least one on-chain transaction. 100% of LocalCryptos users own their own keys in a self-custodial wallet.

In the meantime, if you have deposited recently to your wallet and / or need to spend your funds, you can export your private keys to an external wallet (provided you had downloaded a backup of your wallet).
