The immaturity of the Aus media class is a large part of why we are in such a mess. Massive cost of living crisis with pressure on government to respond and adapt = government responds to ease that pressure = focus on broken promises. This is why we can’t have nice things.

I’m not sure many have the ability to evaluate policy, so it’s easier to run the “broken promise” line . (Although it seems fairly obvious these changes to the Stage 3 tax cuts are a good thing.)

media is all about viewership, it is much easier to concentrate on the promise currently being broken now rather than the benefit that we will get in 6 months

Yeah, it's pretty nebulous but man - I'm certain they do incalculable damage to the country. I still remember back in 2010 a panel where they had a colleague of mine 'debating' against Monckton on climate. It's a farce, and they never seem to face consequences.
