In 1985, Neil Postman predicted that America wasn’t trending toward the under-the-boot totalitarianism of George Orwell’s "1984," but drifting instead through the languorous haze of a feel-good dystopia that resembled Aldous Huxley’s "Brave New World."

Check out my friend Rob Tonkin’s new memoir. I met Rob in L.A., when we both worked in the radio/music industry. ASSHOLE is an honest, from-the-heart look at his life. Rob is not an asshole. He’s a mensch.

Before you put too much faith and trust in AI tools, consider how @grok answered this question which I asked. It's interesting to note that @xai blamed Grok users, not developers, for the fact that Grok this week praised Hitler and the Nazis.

One of the best things about owning a book shop is being able to introduce readers to the writers and books we love. That’s especially true when it comes to the literary works of so many talented writers who live or have roots in El Paso and our U.S.-Mexico borderland.

This @elpasomatters story shows once again that El Paso –– the crossing, the pass of the north and ground zero for immigration –– is one of the safest, most well-behaved cities in the nation. Even the governor of Texas knows that and trusts that.

Demonstrations against immigration raids began in Los Angeles last week and have spread across the country, including to Texas. More are planned this weekend.
