Mummy to two perfect little girls. BBC weather presenter on TV and radio across the north of England. Animal obsessive, vegetable grower, gardener & mamarazzi!
My first publicity photo and my last, yes my last…. After over 20 years of setting my alarm for 2.30am I’ve decided it is time to stop. My last shift will be next Wednesday. It has been an honour 🥰☀️☔️🌈❤️
I have been asked this morning why I was impersonating Minnie Mouse on the weather last night. After checking my broadcast back on the iplayer I see what they mean!
When the graphics give you mouse ears.....
I survived my first half term as a trainee teacher! The pile of books and paper is huge, I’m tired and my brain is frazzled but I’m loving being in the classroom. 👩🏫
My last week! Thank you for all the ❤️ I really appreciate it. To answer a few of your Q’s yes this has been my own decision (though one of the hardest I’ve ever made) and no, I’m not retiring! Taking the summer off then on to a new challenge in September
Today was the last day at my first placement school. I have had an amazing time, the children have been lovely to teach and the staff super helpful and friendly. Now a 5,000 word assignment to write before placement two starts 😳
Just walked into the living room to be told 'shush mummy, I'm working!' She has set up a desk complete with computer and headset then did a weather report 😍
20 years ago this month I packed my bags and moved to London to work at BBC television centre to train to be a weather presenter and assist the team of national presenters.
18 months later I moved to Leeds to become the breakfast weather presenter.......and I must have liked it!
Maybe I should have checked the forecast before getting dressed this morning?!
It’s not really a jumper day, already in double figures and rising to around 14C later. Average for December is 7/8C
Happy golden wedding anniversary mum and dad! Mum was just 14 when they met and 18 when they married. Dad was in the Royal Air Force - doesn’t he look smart in his uniform?! 😍❤️
My girls who have never played/watched football are currently kicking a ball around the garden saying things like ‘it’s a throw in’. I hope they don’t need a ref as I’m clueless 😂
If anybody plans to be up early tomorrow and not too hung over to care about the weather then you can join me for your first forecast of 2018 at breakfast. Have a good New Year's Eve, oh and try to keep the noise down as I'm off to bed now! Xxx
Right, that's my weather duties finished. I'm off to York in a bit for 'Kay's Cakes' with
@kcrewders
and
@BBCYork
then I'm not back in work until new years eve so have a great Christmas! xxxxxx
Lapland was amazing! Reindeer sleigh ride, husky dog sleigh ride, snow mobiles, sledging, snow ball fights and meeting Santa as his actual house!
#arcticexplorers
My baby turned two today! Exhausting but happy day of presents, gymnastic class, stockeld park, Santa then birthday tea at grandma&grandads for more presents! Happy birthday precious poppy xxxx
Just been down to the veg patch with the girls, filled our tummies with peas, raspberries and tomatoes and now taking these back up to the house....yum
My little girl has the lurgy and has just slept for 14.5 hours! Sadly I came down with it too last night and won't get even half that much sleep tonight. We are sharing a duvet on the sofa watching it snow
This summer, I was determined to set a good example to my children so that during those rare 5 mins to myself they would see me reading a book rather than scrolling. Picked this up from the library, loved it and managed to finish it before my PGCE starts next week 😳
Double trouble this morning as
@OwainWynEvans
joins me on the breakfast shift to keep you all up to date with the snow. And he has provided cupcakes to keep us going .....
When you order snow boots for yourself and the kids and are still waiting for them ten days later then it turns into a winter wonderland!

Daughter number one has her first wobbly tooth! She is over the moon, i'm feeling sad (and squeamish). What is the going rate from the tooth fairy these days?
First day back after nearly 3 weeks off work. That alarm call was painful, literally, I pulled my neck as I leapt to turn it off ⏰🤸
And, when did it get so dark again in the morning?!
Thank you Peter for being so supportive over the years and for helping me to stay calm for that very first TV broadcast with you on breakfast back in February 2001
Excitement just now doing the food shopping - a fire engine pulled up (checking something in the kitchen) and they invited me, lily and poppy to have a sit in the fire engine and explained all the equipment to the girls. They loved it!
