If you read fantasy romance for mutual change, for characters who walk out of the castle different on both sides of the door. Beauty and the Beast is still doing that work.

For fantasy readers, this isn’t a DIY manual for “fixing” a broken man. It’s a story that insists: love has to respect fear, or it isn’t love. Power has to open its hand and let the other person go free, or it’s just another curse with better manners.

The shifts are small at first. A conversation instead of a command. A gift given without a price tag. The moment he lets her leave, knowing she might not come back. That’s the real spell breaking.
