It's certainly faster than using my old method of two-finger hunt-and-peck. It's also faster than the swipe style keyboard on my iPhone that I usually use. I'm not sure what my WPM is. 🤔 I'll have to check.

The BCI is located over the speech area of my brain. I have to INTEND to speak to get any meaningful output + signal the app to "listen".
@Life_With_ALS That's fantastic. I'm curious though. Do you have a dictation part of your brain that you use? I mean what feels like a dictation channel not an actual biological area. Or do your thoughts sometimes creep into what you are trying to dictate?

I have a button to press to signal when I want the app to "listen", and the same button sends it to the model for processing when I'm done.

Not only can I speak with the implant, I can also use it for dictation. I "typed" this, but without a keyboard - or any other text entry device - except the implant. I am also The Man Who Types With His Mind.

Physically, no different than before. Mentally/emotionally? I used to dread getting up in the morning. I was already exhausted and ready for a nap soon after breakfast - and much of that was struggling with having no job and fewer hobbies. Now I'm up at 6 AM and raring to go!
