Actor’s “Type” Knowing who you can play is key when submitting to different acting jobs. Make sure your headshots clearly convey the roles you are going out for. It’s also important that you’re being honest and realistic about your actor’s “type”.

Do what you can do every day. Create your routine. Follow it. Keep a great attitude. Getting work is a certainty. Don’t forget to create your own content. Now not only do you have the work… you have creative control!

I’m telling you to print out a 20 year commitment to constant improvement in the above three categories. 30 or 50 years is also great. 20 is the minimum. Chase this thing down for 20 years. Pursue it with what you have (don’t burn out too quickly) on a consistent level.

Don’t be surprised when it happens. A lot of you are still guessing. “I’m trying to be an actor.” What a crock of shit! You ARE an actor. No need to try. Have you committed to this thing yet? Have you signed a 20 year contract with yourself?

If everyone knows you want to act for Antoine Fuqua, word may get around. You may find yourself meeting with Antoine. Scratch that. You WILL find yourself in this meeting if you are improving in the three topics above and you know precisely with whom you’d like to work.

Optional: 1. Favorite actors 2. Favorite directors of photography If you know these things you are more likely to spot an opportunity when it comes along that has your name on it. Just saying “I just want to act” will lead to very little acting.

Want to make it even more certain that you’ll book? Get specific. With whom do you want to act? For whom? Where? What genres interest you the most?

Once you are in the room(auditioning for his casting director)you need to be good enough to get the CD to recommend you to Steven. She will push for you when you are right for the part.If you are constantly achieving progress in the three directions above, she will fight for you

Better and better bookings are coming! If you want to book a Steven Speilberg film, you have to be in the running. You won’t be in the running until you have a team good enough to get you in the room.

Constantly work to improve your: 1. Attitude 2. Acting Talent 3. Business Administration My old acting coach used to say these were the three main things he trained. If you are improving these things, it’s not just that bookings are coming.

It will take patience, tenacity, and a consistent effort to improve. It will take the refinement with whom you spend time. If you spend time with negative people, your attitude will lose some of its positive nature. People will feel that. You won’t be hired as much.

Some sets already have your name on them. With some of you this is metaphorical and with some it’s literal! Some people already have you in mind for projects! Just keep going. Understand that you’ll get your share of the work.
