Went for a picnic with a friend on the Meadows yesterday - was shocked to see many large groups of teenagers not social distancing at all, in fact quite a few of them in physical brawls. Young people have certainly decided that lockdown is over already

Here is the definition of a statue. It is totally neutral. It doesn’t say a person has to be a saint to be depicted in marble or stone. Being able to reflect on our history and debate the values of the past doesn’t mean we have to destroy art or evidence.

So should we take down every statue of anyone who has ever done bad things? Since when was a a statue redfefined as a shrine to a saint? Why don’t people just educate themselves and live with it.

It is also a nasty punishment to the public who have on the whole abided by the restrictions and now need a holiday to look forward to. No one can plan anything. It's demoralising.

It both destroys the tourist industry and restricts economic and business activity at a time when the government is trying to get the economy moving again.

Quarantine should have been implemented at the same time lockdown was, given that no one could work or travel then anyway no one would have lost out. To bring it in now just as lockdown is being eased feels like a slap in the face and makes no sense.
