Waited to post this as I needed to calm down first. I popped into a local pub on Friday evening as I didn’t feel like cooking so thought I’d grab dinner on my way home. It was fairly busy but I found a table and ordered food and a drink.

@British_Airways any chance of a response? Who does he have to contact to get his refund for the downgraded cabin on the replacement flight back from BLQ? No response from Customer Relations, Seating, Refunds or here.

Ten months ago, we launched the Vesuvius Challenge to solve the ancient problem of the Herculaneum Papyri, a library of scrolls that were flash-fried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Today we are overjoyed to announce that our crazy project has succeeded. After 2000

If this spike in trans children is all biological, why is it regional? Either Ohio is shaming them or California is creating them.

Of the 193 states recognised by the UN, Britain has invaded 171 of them, ie 89%. Of 54 African states, Britain has invaded 47, a shade under our global average. Only Bolivia, Guatemala and Paraguay in Central and S America were not invaded by GB (Mark Thomas, 50 Things About Us)

Most guys don’t look in the mirror & see a problem. But it’s staring us in the face. Sexual violence begins long before you think it does. #DontBeThatGuy

The solution to male violence is not handing out personal alarms to more women. The solution to male violence is dealing with violent men.

Similar happened to me on a work trip in Germany. Random guy knocking on the door of my room demanding to be let in in the early hours of the morning. Calling me a bitch because I wouldn’t answer the door. Had to call hotel security from my room to get them to stop him.

Just sharing this to express the shit women put up with, no need to check if I’m OK, we all know how normal stuff like this is 1/ I’m on holiday at the minute. I’m laying by the pool near two men, they were staring at me quite a lot but I, obviously, just ignore it

This is the last thread I’m posting about this. Time to retreat back to posting about happy things like peregrine falcon chicks. Hopefully I never have to post about witnessing something disturbing enough to generate 2.6m views again. Stay safe ❤️

This will only change if we all play our part in challenging and changing it. I’d like to say a massive thank you for the overwhelmingly supportive response and huge respect to all of you who started conversations or took the time to consider what you can do to make a difference.

- If it happens in your social group of friends or colleagues call it out. - If it happens in a public place and you can safely challenge it and you feel comfortable to do so, call it out. - If it happens in a public place and you can report it to staff or police, call it out.

In many situations there may not be much, if anything, the police can do. But they told me I absolutely should report it. If you report it at least there is a record. It may be vital information in future. So there is always something you can do.

I’m not sure if he is genuinely contrite and the bravado vanished when he wasn’t with a group of friends. Maybe being spoken to by the police shook him up and made him think about his behaviour. But my take away is this: it is worth standing up and saying this behaviour is wrong.

This man wasn’t previously known to the police and now has his name recorded as someone responsible for a public order offence. He has been warned of the consequences of any similar future behaviour. He has also been told he faces being barred from the pub if this happens again.

Less than a week later I was contacted to be told they had spoken to the pub and identified one of the individuals involved. The police had spoken to him, he didn’t deny any part of the conversation and apparently was very embarrassed and apologetic.

They gave me a reference number and advised me it was a S5 Public Order Offence and they would ask the pub for CCTV and interview the staff to try and identify the men involved. I wasn’t optimistic but was reassured they were taking it seriously and investigating.
