An American national was reportedly kidnapped from his house in the Château 1 neighborhood, central Niamey, by unknown men at around midnight last night.

The kidnapped American national is Kevin Rideout, a Christian missionary pilot working for the American faith-based NGO SIM International through MFG, he has been working in Niger as a missionary since 2010, unconfirmed reports indicate his captors left towards Tillaberi.

Following the kidnapping of American citizen Kevin Rideout by unknown gunmen in Niamey, the US Embassy in Niger now requires all personnel to only travel in armored vehicles, and announced that all restaurants and open-air markets are "off-limits".
