Proud to have voted for Bridget - someone whose qualities and strong Labour values I have known for 20 years, back when we were young members in Sunderland together! She will be a campaigning Deputy Leader who will help keep Labour as a party of power not protest.

Very pleased to see this - happening because of UNISON’s strong campaigning and the positive way @wesstreeting has engaged positively on the issue, including with MPs such as myself who raised SubCo concerns. A good day for one NHS team.

Drug-related deaths were at public health emergency levels even before this research which suggests they have been underreported. We must do more to improve access to drug treatment - to save lives and to reduce costs and harm to society. https://t.co/GhVtiF5ful

Great to be out with @bphillipsonMP campaigning in one of our marginal wards this afternoon. We need a campaigning deputy leader who can unite the party and defeat Reform: that’s why I’m proud to #BackBridget

This isn't going away @Nigel_Farage Given you misled the British public and your constituents about buying this Clacton house in the first place, it's only right that you put evidence on the table to prove the public have the full story now. https://t.co/J77OOqmGa7

The school support staff negotiating body will finally bring the recognition vital workers deserve. These - mostly women - workers are crucial to delivering our children's education. Labour will reinstate the SSSNB 👏 #TUC25

Labour Deputy Leadership Given the geographical distribution of other leading members of the party & Government, it would not be acceptable to have a London Deputy leader. We need to represent and win across the whole of the UK. I’ll be looking to support a non-London woman.

Nigel Farage repeatedly misled the public by claiming he bought a house in his constituency. Today he admitted it wasn’t true. Given he's had a lot to say on tax this week, it's time he put the full facts on the table over this housing arrangement. It reeks of double

With falling numbers of parents getting their children vaccinated, and a resurgence of disease we had previously eradicated, it’s shockingly irresponsible for Farage to give a platform to these poisonous lies. He should apologise and sever all ties with this dangerous extremism.

Sunderland remembers #VJday 80 years on. An honour to be at the war memorial this morning to commemorate the service and sacrifice of Sunderland’s servicemen in the Far East. They included my great uncle Lally Mackintosh from the East End who fought in Burma.
