On Oct. 23, the Utah State Board of Education banned the book Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. They did so quietly, and without press. We can't let them get away with this. Spread the word, and talk about this book. More information can be found at:
bookriot.com
Utah just quietly banned THIRTEEN REASONS WHY from all public schools across the state. It's their 19th state-sanctioned book ban.

These 18 books are currently banned in Utah schools state-wide. If you look closely, you'll notice a trend of female and minority authors, and LGBTQIA+ stories. This is censorship, and it's reaching a dangerous level.

Unless the Utah State Board of Ed takes action by July 4th, Water for Elephants, by Sara Gruen, will become 18th book permanently banned statewide in Utah. Please contact board members and ask them to overturn the ban and restore local control!

Texas suburban school board candidates touting their support of conservative culture war issues were dealt a devastating blow over the weekend—the losses were felt big by PACs pouring funds into those defeated. Special thank you to @frankstrong 📚 https://t.co/ClUTQHxypz

Rather than ban her books, Ellen Hopkins says Utah should ‘trust in young people’ https://t.co/WmBGX4f5jV. Access the recording here: https://

Young Adult author Ellen Hopkins is the second-most-banned author statewide in Utah schools. It’s a distinction she’d prefer not to have.
