The latest suspension & exclusion data was released today for 2023-2024 full AY. Suspensions appear to be stabilising at their 'new normal' levels post Covid. Feel free to email me for the BCP PowerBI dashboard or higher res versions of the charts.

Circling back to this from earlier in the Autumn term - It looks like clause 45 and 46 of the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill will prevent this from happening. (Pp. 131 . Other juicy items in the bill include statutory NC for academies + admissions.

Further analysis on UL pay scales following the @JonColes01 tweet. ECTs benefit most. The lumpy differences occur due to TPS contribution variations. This is useful intel if your school recruits in a heavy UL area. What are schools doing to attract teachers vs UL? It's not pay.

For BCP colleagues: school capital funding allocations were released today. There are various factors in the calculation, but one to keep in mind is that each discrete school qualifies for £4k base before accounting for pupils, explaining why the UL co-academies receive most.

The 20% is calculated assuming an average life expectancy of 85 in case that didn't make sense (another consideration. ).

A quick spreadsheet comparison shows a) oncosts roughly the same for schools, b) The choice comes down to the individual - 14% (net) in the pay packet now, or 20% (net) in the pension for later. Small catch is that the 20% in TPS (currently) increases above inflation each year.

Exclusive: Unions have said proposals by the country’s biggest trust to offer teachers a less generous alternative pension are ‘alarming’. ‘Tampering with statutory public sector pensions is dangerous and unwelcome’.

An overview of the impact on BCP secondaries with the 0.5% topslice which was reported on today by @SchoolsWeek. All BCP schools will suffer, but those with the lowest prior attainment will be hit hardest on a per pupil basis @BS_headteacher @MrDEB74 @AvothMark @debbs_198

FOI data from FFTEDL for BCP secondaries. Most in BCP were net gainers. Most likely reason is that some FSMe6 drop off between Oct & Jan. This is actually one of the positive aspects of the funding changes which didn't get much attention. @GeorgiePinder

The Autumn '20 GCSE entries are interesting as a peak in to lower YG termination. MFL entries in Y8/9 seem to be a thing and certain GCSEs in Y10 (not a surprise). Numbers are small, but some centres likely pushed back to the summer '21 series. Science as a L2 16-18 pathway too.

Fantastic visit to @GlenmoorAcademy and @WintonAcademyUL today. High expectations, quality teaching, and effective systems. What a brilliant deal their children receive. @debbs_198 is an inspirational leader and most generous with her time and insights. Lots to reflect upon!.
