Argendal, meanwhile, faces its own set of challenges. Weakened by the "defeat", the nation struggles with social unrest and political divisions. In an effort to restore national pride, its leaders have embraced a more assertive stance and increased military focus (by @Gwarawollf

The URG has achieved a period of prosperity, but now finds itself in a difficult situation. The prolonged conflict with Argendal has driven the nation to adopt increasingly repressive policies, tightening control over its people in the name of security

The story takes place 10 years after the Second Argendal War, in 1987. Although a considerable amount of time has passed, tensions between the two nations remain as fierce as ever. In that same year, the first steps towards peace began, something still fragile, but hopeful

The conflict had settled into a stalemate, with both sides entrenched in hostility and unable to achieve a decisive victory. In 1977, a ceasefire was signed amid economic exhaustion and widespread devastation. And that's how we arrived at the present day

Over time, coordinated Guaranaense counteroffensives contained the Argendali advance. Notably, they recaptured Patos do Sul International Airport in Quacari, a major turning point in the war. By late 1976, the front line had stabilized near its pre-war positions

And then, the inevitable happened. In early 1970, the URG was shaken by a massive Argendal offensive in its southern regions, losing kilometers of territory within weeks. By mid-1973, Argendali troops could already be seen near the URG capital, Guarília ( by @Gwarawollf)

By the end of that year, the hotel hosting the delegation was hit by a bombing of unknown, presumably terrorist origin, leaving several casualties. The incident caused irreversible damage to relations and sparked a wave of provocations, making lasting peace impossible

In an attempt to prevent the worst from happening, a Guaranaense peace delegation was sent to the Argendali capital, Bons Ríos, in 1969. Little did anyone know that the visit would change the course of history

With only 9 years since the First War, resentment still ran deep. Alongside the “War of the Notes” — an still ongoing espionage conflict — and the 1968 border clash that left 11 wounded and 1 dead, it was clear that it was only a matter of time before the conflict reignited

Given this scenario, We begin with the Second War of Argendal a conflict that lasted from 1970 to 1976, and one of the most devastating for both countries. Before that conflict, tensions between the countries were already at alarming levels

Unfortunately, to avoid making this post too long (since there's still a lot to cover), I'll have to save the details of this story for a future thread :p, but don't worry, the important parts are still here

Countries that were once with close relations, gradually became bitter enemies after a series of successive events. Despite numerous attempts to prevent further escalation, their rivalry ultimately gave rise to one of the greatest cold wars the world has ever known

However, although there is a vast world yet to be explored, our main focus remains on the South Usoan continent where we meet 2 main important countries, Democratic People's Republic of Argendal and the Union of Guaranaense Republics
