It was a pleasure to welcome President Santiago Peña on his State Visit to Singapore — the first ever by a President of Paraguay.

Though our countries are geographically distant, Singapore and Paraguay share many similarities. We are both small states navigating a complex world, surrounded by larger neighbours, and committed to multilateralism and free trade.

I hope President Peña’s visit will open new avenues for cooperation and foster stronger ties between our peoples. In an increasingly uncertain world, it is vital that like-minded countries continue to work together.

Happy to celebrate 10 years of SkillsFuture with SkillsFuture Singapore and Workforce Singapore. Over the past decade, we’ve strengthened our SkillsFuture ecosystem - enabling Singaporeans to pursue skills mastery and grow in their careers.

It was a pleasure to meet Mr Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States, this morning. We had an insightful exchange on global and regional developments.

I thanked President Clinton for his strong support of US-Singapore relations. He worked with then-PM Goh Chok Tong to lay the groundwork for the landmark US-Singapore Free Trade Agreement — a gold standard for future FTAs that remains a pillar of our bilateral ties.

Singapore and the US continue to share many areas of strategic cooperation. We look forward to deepening this partnership in the years ahead.

Looking forward to seeing him again when I visit Australia later this year to mark 60 years of diplomatic ties between our two countries.

Singapore and Australia are close friends with many common strategic perspectives and shared interests. It was good to catch up with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, especially so soon after both our countries held elections on the same day, 3 May!

Changi Airport’s story mirrors Singapore’s — bold, visionary, and undaunted by challenges. Two years ago, I stood on the site where Terminal 5 would one day rise. Today, we break ground and begin building this next chapter in our aviation journey.

T5 will boost Changi’s capacity by over 50%, serve as the new home of the SIA Group, and support our ambition to reach more than 200 city links worldwide. Smart, sustainable, and seamlessly integrated with the rest of Singapore, T5 is more than just an airport terminal.
