Commuting to workplaces every day for jobs that can just as easily be done from home. People can just come in once a week, or every other week, and offices can be designed for that.
@zoramag
About 37% of US jobs can be done at home.
This would be better for workers, families, traffic, health, the environment, AND EMPLOYERS.
People go to offices because managers confuse butts in chairs with productivity.
@zoramag
Remote workers are MORE PRODUCTIVE.
They get sick less because they're less exposed to germs, and they can work through minor illnesses without exposing others.
Working at home reduces staff turnover, thus retaining corporate know-how and saving $.

That is what my spouse said! I only need to go to the office 2 times per week.
But I can’t go at all until there is a vaccine ...
I have asthma...

@zoramag
Been saying that for YEARS too.
So much utterly unnecessary commuting, office space, work clothing, $$$ on lunch all so someone can poke their head in your office/cubicle to see what you are doing on a computer.
Technology has made it much more sensible to telecommute.

@zoramag
The only downside of telecommunicating is putting livelihood of janitorial services in office buildings in jeopardy. Everything is a damn domino

I’ve been saying this long before COVID. I’ve lost friends over this argument. There’s no reason you need to drive an hour - esp. during a New England snowstorm here - to sit behind the same computer that could be at home.
