New review out from the lab about perhaps the largest stereotypical aberrant tract in the brain: Probst bundles. Led by the wonderful @ZoranaLynton, what can their natural formation teach us about brain plasticity and compensation?

Thanks also goes to the editorial team at @NatureComms and the reviewers - I know academics write "addressing these insightful reviews significantly improved the manuscript" a lot, but in this case it was absolutely heartfelt. I wish all publishing experiences were so smooth!.

A proud day for co-first authors @AnnalisaPaolino and @ElizzyH86, two absolute superstar ECRs. I thank my lucky stars to be able to work with them every day, as well as other talented contributing ECRs @dylanablack @EJBailey_Neuro and Ching Moey 🥳.

These results reveal the processes that may be more flexible versus fixed to temporal change across mammalian cortical evolution, and may point towards mechanisms underlying structural divergence of the cortex and its connections between lineages.

We further identify a lack of basal intermediate progenitor cells from ventricular zone origin as a possible contributing factor to the differing timescales between the marsupial fat-tailed dunnart and placental mouse

New work from our lab out now in @NatureComms! A similarly sized marsupial takes 3x longer to develop than a mouse, but do all cortical neurodevelopmental processes temporally scale to different timeframe uniformly? No! 🦘👩‍🔬🧠🔬
