Dan Davies pointed the fact that economists often don't learn how to read balance sheets and it made my reflect on my undergrad econ education and the surpassing gap between what we studied and *actually* existing business.

The meme about people sagely taking notes about profit = revenue - cost is real but OTH it's nice to actually learn how to read a balance sheet?.
