@ENSaltCo With sea salt hand-harvested on the East Coast of Scotland and slowly smoked using peat from Laphroaig’s fields for enhanced earthy, peaty, iodine notes, we're thrilled with our new collaboration and exciting next step in our Taste Trailblazers journey.

“Laphroaig’s history really started to draw me. I love hearing tales from colleagues who have worked here long before I joined, and I often share these stories within the experiences I host - although some I wouldn’t dare repeat.”

Clinging to the shores of Islay Bay and braced against the tempestuous Atlantic weather, our iconic Warehouse 1 has stood tall since 1924. Its untamed location continues to produce casks of whisky with distinctive salty notes from wooden barrels infused by the Atlantic climate.

"Profound. Unique. Clean. Complex." Those were the words Fire Chef Francis Mallmann used to describe our Laphroaig 10-Year-Old Ex Bourbon cask. And we'd have to agree. How would you describe the nose and palate of our classic 10-Year-Old?

"We have many things in common and it's beautiful too that we're different. The thing we have in common is smoke and fire. And I think we embrace that together by the craft, the intuition and by the respect of simplicity and the past and traditions." - Francis Mallmann.

It has been since 1815, when farming brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston leased acres from the Laird of Islay and discovered distilling was more profitable than farming, resulting in the birth of a whisky with distinctive, peaty, and earthy flavours known today as Laphroaig.

We’re often asked what makes our whisky a cut above the others. The secret? Quite simply, it’s the essence of Islay itself. Peat.
