Owls have been experimenting with rock properties recently, as well as soil. We found so many ways we could classify our samples and learned which were igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. #scientists

Otters have been learning about food in Spanish for the last 2 weeks- practicing having conversations about likes and dislikes and learning new vocabulary related to comida y bebida!

We loved it!.

Owls had a great day at Herdwick School. We used mapping skills to plot land use & see change. We experimented with (super) soil. We delved into plein air art, and we STILL found time for some sound bathing, spirituality, sheep dogs & shepherding! #grateful #stewards #scientists!

Well done to all our children who took part in the area athletics competition at Appleby this afternoon. There were some amazing performances from our children. Many of them made it through to the finals which was great to watch.

The children in Kingfisher class have enjoyed weaving in their art lessons this term, particularly making some butterflies today 🦋🧶

Some of our children from Years 5 and 6 were proud to represent Langwathby School today at The Cumbria School Games in Carlisle. During the opening ceremony they listened to inspirational speeches from two Cumbrian Olympians, Lauren Smith and David King.

Tonight was the final session of Art Club and we were experimenting with charcoal and chalk! The children have embraced every medium and style we've looked at and are incredible little artists!

Some of the children from Year 1 had a busy afternoon at the Eden Valley Sports Partnership Multi-sports event. They were able to take part in lots of events and win lots of stickers. It was fantastic watching the way they all tried their best and had a great time.

Badger class have been learning about pneumatics in D&T this week. We will be using this to design and create our own ‘Greek Myth Monsters’.

The children in Kingfisher class have loved linking their Art and Science learning together by making some clay flowers. We are really impressed with their creativity and a huge thanks to Linda and Heather for their help and patience when making these🌻🌷🌼🌹

The Badger Class were Botanists this afternoon. They dissected a variety of different flower heads to identify the reproductive organs and to explore how pollination occurs. Although each flower head looked different they were able to find and name the common features.

Thanks to #FixTheFells for talking to us about the work they do to lessen the environmental impact of human activity on the Fells. Their work is the embodiment of our Values of Hope, Service & Compassion. We're are delighted to be organising a bake sale to raise funds for them!

Today was Healthy Living Day. We had so much fun with team games, circuits, active maths, Zumba, yoga, mindfulness activities, healthy doughnuts and running activities. All the children took an active part and a great time was had by all!

Well done 👍🏻 to our Worship Council who planned, prepared and delivered a fabulous worship this afternoon. To conclude our reflections on the value of ‘Justice’ they shared a slideshow of inspirational figures who have fought for justice.

London’s burning, London’s burning 🎶🚒 EYFS & KS1 had an exciting morning thanks to Lazonby Fire and Rescue service. They learnt how to stay safe in the home, looked around the engine, used the fire hose & watched ‘Pudding Lane’ burn down like the Great Fire of London!
