What rank badges and stars Police wears has no equivalence with the Army In fact my personal opinion has been that Police should not have similar Rank badges and accoutrements to the military just like they dont have uniforms similar to the military

IG is equivalent to Major General within his state. DGP is equivalent to a 2 star general along with DGs of CAPF, 25th in the OOP. DGP is junior to Lt. General as the Warrant of Precedence places the DGP in the 25th Rank and Lt. General in 24th Rank.

BULLSHIT Civilian officers are ranked as per order of precedence and are not "always" higher than military officers. IGP is equivalent to a Major General and will not be higher than a Major General under any scenario
