He literally walked onto an NBA court from the sideline. His accountability is admirable and I don't believe it was forced.
"The Watson trade, the Tunsil trade and probably a Brandin Cooks trade kind of looks inevitable right now."

As a draft analyst, I (and EVERYONE ELSE including GMs) had to decide what to do with CJ Stroud's in-season tape vs the Georgia game. The UGA game was on a completely different level. It was his final game & against the best. Everything on the UGA tape has translated. Everything.
I've been thinking about this quite a bit over the last couple of years.
Wouldn't it be great if people knew how much they were loved/respected before they weren't with us anymore? Just take some time out to find someone and let them know before you can't anymore.
You decide to do Oilers cosplay and then you end up losing in classic Oilers fashion to a team missing 8 starters including QB, top two WRs and both RTs.
The uniforms still have the same juju I remember from watching them growing up.
Journalist have to understand timing a little bit better when asking questions. That last question was poorly timed and frankly, a little out of bounds based on where Brian was at the time mentally
Nothing is better than people on twitter telling me about an Alabama State tackle and how bad he is and what a terrible pick is. I don’t know why I wasted time on his five games of tape as well as the time I spent on him at Senior Bowl. I should have just asked JefF from twitter.
I get that Trevor Bauer is unlikeable, but if he was intentionally set up as the evidence appears to show, that should bother any and all of us. I never want that for anyone.
On May 23rd, I was putting together an article for naming five 2017 first rounders who would breakout in 2018. I reached out to Chiefs GM Brett Veach about his guy because I wasn’t sure. I would say he nailed his response. IND/KC should be fun.
DJ’s emotion captures what many in the media and around football feel. I called last year just to check on his health and he gave me a brief answer about appreciating life but didn’t want to dwell on it and just wanted to talk ball. He was always kind, respectful & insightful

It was going to be given back in two hours at the end of the day. Theft isnt where you give something back. It’s a long-standing class rule about not having them out.
One of the coolest things I saw at
@seniorbowl
was Ohio State WR Terry McLaurin uncover in 1-on1s & make catches & then explain some of his route work to DBs between reps in order to help him. Three DBs dapped him up after 1-on-1s finished. I e never seen that there before.
Notre Dame RB Kyren Williams is one of the only backs I've ever written up who could have his own highlight reel of nothing but blitz pickups. Zero flinch when linebackers fire on him.
My son passed up spring break opportunities to come home and watch tape with me and his grandfather, who was an NFL offensive line coach. Alec works in a recruiting department and is learning as much as he can specifically about offensive lineman from someone who coached it.
The Texans got a 2nd rounder for Deandre Hopkins when he was the best WR in football and was headed for a new contract (and they had to take on David Johnson's bad contract).
GB got 1st and 2nd round picks for the best WR in football and didn't have to take on a bad contract.
Do not be surprised to see Bill Belichick find ways to use Marcus Jones not only as a slot corner, but also as a receiver. He was absolutely unguardable getting in and out of his routes when he was given receiver reps at Houston. Electric with the ball in his hands.
The combination of Stefon Diggs, Tank Dell, Nico Collins and Dalton Schultz is easily the most explosive and most talented collection of receivers the Texans have ever had by a LONG mile. If the OL holds up, they should be in serious consideration to become the top offense in FB
Feisty. Quick to step downhill and cut off the angle. Plays with controlled energy and good patience. Adequate lateral scrape with average knee bend. Comes to balance and sees what she hits. Strikes body on body and runs feet through contact. Excellent wrap and roll finish.
A 16 year old sent me a direct message about wanting to get into the business & sent scouting samples for a website he writes for. He flew down to Senior Bowl to network & to be around it. He said he wants to be great. My kids are finding ways to sneak Fortnite.

Found the perfect time slot and co-host to jump back in with. We did it once, so let’s do it again. Fits perfect with my NFL draft gig and “Off Script” is still alive and well on the podcast front. Please RT. See you on Monday.
Well I didn’t expect my wife to beat her personal best by 20 minutes in the Houston Marathon. Not only does she qualify for the Boston Marathon, but now I have to buy the kids a dog because I said I would if she qualified which I thought could never happen.
In less than 3 months the Astros lost Gerritt Cole, their asst GM, their GM, manager, $5M and first two draft picks of the next two years.
In less than a quarter, the Texans lost a 24 point lead and became the first team in NFL history to lose by 20 after leading by 20.
Oh and by the way..... football people tell me that Easterby is still making calls to agents on behalf of the team and is very much involved in football side. Not the "character coach" angle we've heard. It's still a problem. So sleep tight.
“You’re the Yankees, okay. You’ve already lost two to the Astros and it should have been three and you just got no-hit. Your fans keep screaming at the little guy and it seems to be backfiring. Now at some point, you have to prove you can actually beat them, alright.”
Before you slander K Murray as an early first rounder, please play a game with me. It's called "Kidnapped Mom"
Your mom is being held in an undisclosed location. The only way to free her is to pick a 2019 QB to win 1 game. I promise you that your mom wants you to take Murray
Scratch QB1 off your mock draft lists for the Texans. I will guarantee you that Nick has seen enough for year 2 with Davis Mills taking snaps and a "best available" or trade back scenario unfolding in the 1st round. Lock.
This is one of my favorite plays Ive ever seen in my tape study. Instincts, decisiveness, elusiveness and toughness by one of the top LBs in this draft
Texas A&M middle LB Edgerrin Cooper
Angular frame is well-muscled. Gets impatient from press. Excellent reactive athleticism to recover. Easy hip flip with plus recovery burst. Maintains feel for the route. Needs to do a better job of timing and challenging third level throws. Has some dog in him.
Had a discussion with a position coach for a team who doesn't need QB who couldn't stop gushing about JJ McCarthy and his timing, vision and intangibles. I'm telling you.... has a real shot of being QB3
If the Texans lose this game, all of the "give as many picks as you have to in order to get a left tackle and fix your roster" crowd will see what it's actually like when that credit card bill comes due over the next two drafts & cap space dwindles w/ new Watson-Tunsil contracts
Both sons suspended from their middle school game today for breaking team rules. Already character red flags showing up in the Zierlein family. Just a reminder of who we are dealing with here.
Back in 2011/2012 I remember a Texans exec telling me “we are THE team in this city. It’s always going to be like that.” And it came off just as arrogant as it reads.
Today, I heard multiple fans leaving NRG stadium talking about the Astros. Things change.

The Laremy Tunsil trade for Miami has now netted them: the 26th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the 12th, 36th and 102nd picks in the 2021 NFL Draft plus a 2022 first-round pick and 2023 first-round pick.
Quite a deal.
Teams I've heard who have an interest in potentially moving up for the right guy include:
* Philly
* Atlanta
* Pittsburgh
* Green Bay
* Tennessee
Teams who are interested in trading back:
Pretty much everybody
In my final mock I had the Texans taking Kenyon Green at pick
#13
. No reason to think it's a different pick at
#15
. Ass-kicking interior blocker who can move people around. I'm hoping he's the pick here. Time to get tough up front and crank up the ground game!
#TexansDraft
Press box empty at Texans game. The fall from grace for the organization has been as substantial as anything I've witnessed in all my years of following Houston sports as a fan and/or media member.
A first in

home game history?
Out of all the stations, I’m the ONLY local news sports reporter at the game. (And no, they’re not all at the World Series 😂)

No pro day when Malik Nabers is about to run a 4.3 is an interesting choice if you're a 4.4 WR. While Nabers is my WR1 Marvin is WR2 & both are my top two prospects in the draft with both garnering a 6.8. However, there will be more teams with Nabers WR1 than the public thinks
I like to match up data points with tape study of that data to get context. One of the data points that I consider very important is comp % out of scrambles.
According to PFF (comp% when scrambling):
Caleb 41.8%
Maye 36.8%
Daniels 46.7%
Nix 58.6%
Penix 23.3%
McCarthy 71.4%
One of the biggest disconnects on here (and fandom in general) is the belief that teams are influenced by opinions, mocks or reports from media. They have ALL THE intel on players (character/medical) & they trust their own evaluations. Media narratives don't influence teams.
Prayers going out to whichever DL used to have the 3-cone and short shuttle records before Ed Oliver went to the Combine. His numbers may end up rivaling the WILL LBs in the class. Crazy hips and change of direction.
I just want the city I grew up in and the fans who cheer for these teams to have nice things. It's very frustrating to have friends in organizations who have taught me so much over the years about how organizations are run and what to do and not to do and then to see the Texans.
Deshaun needs to realize that he could have made demands for Jack Easterby to be out a while back, but he let him slide. After letting him slide, Jack went back door and circumvented the hiring process that Watson is upset about. Do the math and demand that change, DeShaun
I'm honestly not sure why Texans fans think that losing the first pick will somehow set the team way back. Are you sure they are locked in on any one player? Who is the can't miss guy? Bears could draft Anderson and leave QB1 for Texans. Texans could get Anderson or Stroud
